Do you tend to think of events in the past and dwell on how it should or could have been? Do you ask yourself why me – why did this happen to me?

It’s common sense to think that events in the past influence you today and it seems almost logical to go through life thinking that what happened to you is who you are. But you do not have to let those events define who you are or allow them to keep you from living a healthy joyful life.

Imagine for a moment that you are able to let your past fade into nothingness. Imagine letting go of negative thoughts and events or people that have wronged you. Imagine what that would feel like to be totally free to make decisions based on how you feel right now, not based on your past.

You have emotions because something happened to you. You are allowed to have emotions, but it’s time to think about releasing those emotions so you will feel better and move forward with your life.

The first step is to release negative feelings you have been holding on to. It may be difficult to let that grudge or negative thought go, but it is YOU that suffers if you carry it with you. Allow any thoughts or emotions to be released and you will be able to remove blocks and open up a new way of looking at the world to make decisions with clarity.

Once you release your emotions you are able to see more clearly and you will be able to feel compassion and empathy which leads to forgiveness. It’s not an easy thing to do but if you can find understanding and wisdom you realize that to forgive is to let go of energy that no longer serves you.

The final step is to forgive yourself for holding onto the burden of the past. You didn’t know it was ok to let go of the past. You thought it was who you are but it’s not. It’s an event that happened to you and even though you have emotions attached to it, you can learn to release them and let them go.

You are a perfect creation and you have the ability to love and accept yourself. You deserve to live your life free from the past in complete control with love and light.
